While the current LSU football roster continues to work its way through spring practice, the coaching staff is continuing to work on its group of the future. Earlier this week, five-star linebacker Jonah Williams announced that he’ll take an official visit with the Tigers later this spring.

LSU five-star linebacker target to take a June official visit with the Tigers

One of the best recruiting classes we’ve ever seen from LSU has the potential to get even better before the class of 2025 is all said and done. All spring, coach Brian Kelly and the Tigers have been hosting some of the best defensive players in the country, including five-star cornerback DJ Pickett, four-star safety Faheem Delane, and they’ll now add five-star linebacker Jonah Williams to that list.

According to Billy Embody of On3, the talented athlete out of Galveston, TX, has officially locked in a visit for later this spring on June 7.

Listed as a 6-foot-3, 203-pound athlete, Jonah Williams has the potential to play several positions at the next level. While built like a speedy linebacker, the Ball High School standout has next level athleticism that would allow him to play safety with ease.

As if that weren’t enough, he’s a talented playmaker on the offensive side of the ball and could even play college baseball if he wanted. In turn, he’s rated as one of the best players in the country, ranking No. 12 nationally and No. 2 among linebackers, according to 247Sports.

During the 2023 season, Williams did just about everything on the football field, recording 618 yards and 10 touchdowns on 22 touches to go along with 58 tackles, four tackles for loss and four interceptions on the defensive side of the ball.

With his upcoming official visit in June, this will be his second trip to Baton Rouge, last visiting campus earlier this month on March 9, 2024. Furthermore, while possessing 20+ offers, getting him to take an official visit to LSU of all places is encouraging, to say the very least.

Oklahoma is the early favorite to land the five-star linebacker, but if recent trends are any indication, don’t be surprised to see the Tigers make a late push.
