The Pittsburgh Pirates made Anthony Solometo the 37th overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft and so far, the Pirates’ prospect is rewarding them.
The left-handed Solometo has emerged as one of the Pirates’ top pitching prospects and has been playing at a high level this season.
The 20-year-old was off to a hot start with High-A Greensboro and has been pitching well ever since getting bumped up to Double-A Altoona. His success continued on Thursday with another solid outing.

Indianapolis (46-52)
RF Ryan Vilade
2B Domingo Leyba
Vilade and Leyba’s efforts weren’t enough for Indianapolis, who fell 9-5 to the Louisville Bats.
Pirates prospect Vinny Capra went 1 for 4 and has hits in seven of his last eight games played.
Altoona (44-45)
LHP Anthony Solometo
3B Jackson Glenn
Glenn’s three-run homer backed a solid start from Solometo as Altoona defeated the Harrisburg Senators 5-3.
Pirates prospect Mike Jarvis went 3 for 4 with a pair of steals in the win. Jarvis is hitting .474 (9 for 19) through his first five games in Double-A.
Greensboro (47-43)
LF Will Matthiessen
INF Jack Brannigan
Matthiessen and Brannigan both had huge games for Greensboro in their 6-5 win over the Winston-Salem Dash.
Pirates prospect Tres Gonzalez homered, walked twice and scored a pair of runs for the Grasshoppers.
Bradenton (53-39)
INF Jesus Castillo
SS Yordany De Los Santos
Castillo hit his first homer of the season for Bradenton but the Marauders were dismantled 17-3 by the St. Lucie Mets.
De Los Santos reached base twice and Pirates prospect Termarr Johnson drew to walks.
